What is Pre-ETS?

Pre Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS) is a career-focused support system for students between the ages of 14-21 with disabilities that create potential barriers to employment.

  • Provided through Opportunities for Ohioans with Disabilities (OOD)
  • Available to students who are eligible or potentially eligible for vocational rehabilitation (VR) services
  • Can be delivered individually or in groups

Who Qualifies?

  • Students with disabilities between the ages of 14-21
  • High school or postsecondary students exploring career interests or needing early transition support
  • Students who are eligible or potentially eligible for VR services through OOD

Categories of Service

  • Job Exploration Counseling: Career interests, in demand jobs, non-traditional careers, interest inventories
  • Work-Based Learning Experiences: Job shadowing, workplace tours, hands-on experiences, short-term work opportunities
  • Counseling on Postsecondary Education: College, training programs, apprenticeships, financial aid, disability services
  • Workplace Readiness Training: Soft skills, communication, teamwork, résumé basics, interview prep
  • Instruction in Self Advocacy: Understanding accommodations, communicating needs, building confidence
